1961 MG A 1600 Mk II Coupé
Registration no.
Chassis no. GHDL2102552
From a prestigious collection
1622cc engine
Version with a luxurious vinyl dashboard
The MG A first appeared as the EX172 project in 1951, a modified MG TD with an aerodynamic body designed to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Its styling closely previewed the production model, which entered production in 1955. That same year, three EX182 prototypes competed at Le Mans, achieving 12th and 17th overall. With its sleek and modern design, the MG A became a cornerstone of British sports cars in the 1950s and 1960s.
This MG A Mk II is fitted with the 1622cc engine fed by twin SU H4 carburettors. It was acquired by its current owner at a French auction in 2014.
All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams|Cars website for all pertinent auction information.
