Lot 66
c. 1957 Moto Guzzi 500cc Racing Motorcycle
Registration no. unregistered
Chassis no.
By the end of the 1930s, the 'flat single' engine, as employed by Carlo Guzzi's 1919 prototype, was established as a Guzzi hallmark. In the post-war era, and despite having Ing. Giulio Carcano's fabulous V8 at the race team's disposal, Moto Guzzi persisted with its horizontal singles for many years, these lighter and more agile machines being better suited to many circuits than the bulky multis, even at Grand Prix level.
With its double-overhead-camshafts and Guzzi's own leading-link front fork, the machine offered here is typical of the works bikes of the late 1950s. Formerly in the Enrico Bernardi museum in Italy, it carries a scrutineering sticker from Assen in 1998. No Documents.
As with all Lots in the Sale, this Lot is sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
