1966 MG Midget in very good all-round condition with a very solid underside, running and driving spot on, we sold this car 18 months ago and the owner is moving to a no garage home so it had to go, he’s had lots of fun with the car on days out with his son, we had two similar cars on offer back then and this was the better driving car of the two, it’s very enjoyable. It’s a really good looker, the hood on these early models stores completely out the way, leaving really smooth sporty lines and it also has the tonneau cover as well for the super sporty race track look.
It starts very easily and runs really, really well, pulling strongly through all the gears, it stops well, see the video and is steady at speed with no wandering or vagueness of any kind the steering wheel is rock steady and if you press the “go” pedal hard it’s quick at getting up to the speed limit, we have checked the fluids for correct level and contamination and there's no breathing from the oil cap when running, see the video. The odometer is showing 99867 miles but should be disregarded.
The interior is complemented by blue piped seats, original period steering wheel and very unmolested dashboard, seat belts fitted, very tidy carpet set with proper Midget over mats, it’s a sung place to get comfy for some motoring adventures.
Both doors, boot and bonnet open, click shut and lock, the side lights, head lights and horn, wiper, washers, all work. The hood is free from any rips, splits or damage, the windows are very clear with no cracks, the hood frame is in very good order.
The paintwork is presentable, there are a few tiny imperfection that will be found on very close inspection. Bright work is all ok, not new and slightly aged with some pitting, comes with matching wire spare wheel. It’s completely solid underneath, the sill’s, floor pans, jacking points, chassis legs are solid, we have had it 6ft in the air, see the pics and video any inspection welcome.
We have two sets of keys, a history files containing lot’s invoices, old logbooks and old MOTS, its HPI clear with and the car is TAX and MOT but we have still put a fresh Mot on it, no advisories, valid until January 2026. All the tyres are in very good order with no slows or leaks, they are a matching set and on the desirable “knock on” wire spoke wheels. The current logbook is to follow on, currently packed in a house move box and unable to be located, a DVLA check shows no other logbooks have been issued since we last sold it in May 2023, so it genuinely is just lost in a box at the moment, the car is taxed and can be used whilst this is resolved.
There are few simple improvements that can made undertaken if required, but nothing stopping you having fun right now, no other seller will be this up front with you. The dash gauges are typically MG with false, none and intermittent readings, passenger window is stiff from lack of use, drivers side indicator can be fiddly, small parcel shelf in the passenger foot well needs securing, the boot badge needs a new “M”, we’d recommend an oil change new filters and general service, apart from the chrome pitting and minor paint flaws we already mentioned in the video we can’t find anything else to say about this lovely old car which we marketed at £6495 last time it was sold, so we have left the buyer plenty of scope to make any desired improvements with our current much lower price.
Draw out of your boring ISA, get out the picnic hamper and go and enjoy your hard earned savings, you still have a car to sell if you want to cash in later and you will be making memories instead of a pittance of interest.
There are loads of Midgets to pick from, you simply will not find another this well demonstrated, with everything shown to you before you leave the house, nothing hidden and nothing to hide.

Local delivery within 20 miles of Carlisle is normally for free, further afield we can deliver to most of the UK for £1 per road mile (it will not be delivered by crow), one way from Carlisle, direct on our own transport, please ask for a price.

All viewings are exclusively by timed APPOINTMENT ONLY, we do not have a showroom or display area, items may have to be brought from our secure storage to view and advance notice will be required.
