We are delighted to present for sale this 1966 Series 2a Land Rover®, finished in the popular Light Pastel Green colour scheme with Limestone Wheels & Hard Top. We always relish the opportunity to produce an original “van sides” Hard Top – this is the original format from new, and they have a host of benefits…. the first being security, due to the ability to fully lock the vehicle – the second being the fact it is ideal for sign-writing the sides of the hard top to advertise a business… in the last few months we have sold ones like this to landscapers, labourers and even a coffee shop who used their Series as a pull-out coffee shop!
Externally, this has all the features one would hope to see on a “good” Series 2a – vintage number plates, recent bumper, bonnet mounted spare, Limestone Steel Wheels with 750 (nearly new) tyres, rear grab handles, refinished galvanised cappings, door mounted mirrors – etc etc. We think the photos speak for themselves here and that any discerning buyer would see the appeal of a truck like this. The hard top has been previously refurbished inside and out too, which is a nice touch.
On the inside, there are three recent standard front seats, all with seat belts, along with deluxe matting to the footwells. Door cards are fitted to all doors front and rear for that premium feel. It is great to see an expensive sound deadening kit has been fitted which is also rubberised to protect against damage, dirt and scratches whilst also dropping the decibel level! The rear is unfitted with the exception of a load mat to the floor area – bench seats can be fitted for the ability to carry seven occupants including the driver if so desired – otherwise it would be ideal for carrying loads like logs and coal, the dogs to the park, picnic sets to the beach, bikes to the woods – or even carrying tools for a business/ fabricating a mobile coffee shop… or just about anything one can think of – the genius behind these vehicles is their complete flexibility for any purpose… and by keeping it as a blank canvas for the new owner, they can put their own style onto the vehicle for whatever purpose they choose.
Out on the road, this Series delivers a pleasing period drive – a weber carburettor gives additional power over standard, with 750 tyres for additional gearing and a more relaxed cruise. The joy of having a back to basics driving experience is not lost on us & getting back to the essence of what a Series Land Rover® really is meant big smiles when out on our test route. The added bonus of the additional sound deadening means this becomes a much more relaxed drive with lower revs and less noise too.
In summary then – no matter the task that you plan for – this Series 2a can surely be made to fit the bill.
