How cute is this? This is a 1968 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior, one of the early Scalino variations, and this is a UK Supplied Right Hand Drive example that has been in the previous ownership for 35 years! Thats why you can never buy one when you want! This car is scruffy but has a current MOT when it doesnt need one, has had a lot of money recently spent and is perfect for a little Alfaholics GTA Rep treatment!
The Alfa Romeo Giulia GT, built from 1963 to 1975 is a wonderful 2+2 Coupé built by the Milanese manufacturer, the kind of car that left a whole generation of enthusiasts awestruck. Built on the Giulia Ti's shortened floor-pan, this Alfa Romeo was one of Giorgetto Giugiaro's, then working for Bertone, first creations. Given the Giulia Spring GT's great success, Alfa Romeo decided to begin offering, from 1966 onwards, a more affordable version to take full advantage of the Italian "economic boom" and take a slice of the young driver’s market segment. That's how the GT 1300 Junior, type 105. 30, was born. Powered by a 1290cc DOHC engine with a power output of 89hp and initially lacking a brake booster, this version of the glorious Giulia Sprint GT wasn't that far away from her bigger sister performance wise and therefore ended up becoming the model's best-selling edition.
This is a very early 105 series ‘step nose’ example, which has been with the previous owner for some 35 years, it was bought as his first car and used for four or five years before being laid up and stored in his father’s garage up until 2018. The car is an original UK supplied example and is the perfect candidate for further restoration or to turn into a restomod. The car has undergone much work since 2018 such as fitment of a new front crossmember, front chassis legs and lower valance, both doors were rebuilt and reskinned, new fuel tank, fuel lines and rebuilt carburettors, new servo and rebuilt calipers, new radiator, water pump and hoses, new spring pans and track rod ends, new mats, re-covered rear seat and a new exhaust system. The car would next benefit from some attention to the paintwork as is it cracked on most panels, but it is perfectly useable as is. This provides an excellent opportunity to take on a car which has had much of the hard work completed and leaves the next owner with the decision on which style to finish the car in. The interior is Tan and we have the front seat covers to finish the interior, or they can be left black. She has an MoT test certificate valid until March 2025, the original Owners Handbook, a huge service history including a full service last year. She is ready to go and is the cheapest one we could see, they just dont come around very often in RHD, be quick!
