EXTERIOR
This stunning Beetle presents extremely well with a dynamic mix of period features and OEM+ upgrades. Restored by Romance of Rust in the US during 2016 the paintwork, chrome work, fixtures and fittings remain in excellent order with the car only pressed into service by it’s collect owner for shows and leisurely sunday drives.

Whilst undeniably a cult classic, the attention to those extra little details is second-to-none with headlight guards, Albert mirrors and those wonderful Fuchs wheels all coming together to provide unique kerb appeal.

The car as a whole is in very good order, with chassis rails and under carriage showing very little signs of wear or corrosion.

INTERIOR
The interior space is simply a work of art – developed and installed by West Coast Classics. Everything has been removed and renewed to ensure a tasteful and era-sympathetic feel is achieved with the wool headlining, Vinyl door cards, Vinyl seats and German square wave carpet in fabulous order throughout. Factory style lap belts have been fitted front and rear all utilising stock holes so, if needed, they can be removed. A set of beautiful CoCo mats provide an exquisite finishing touch.

The 3 spoke split steering wheel and a Vintage speed shifter were painted ivory to match the rest of the interior as well as the turn signal cover, e-brake, door card detail and dash knobs.

A Retrosound deck unit (Radio, MP3) with hidden amplifier and 6×9 speakers is all fully Bluetooth compatible providing some more modern in-car entertainment.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Built from the ground up by Dave Greiner at Proformance Racing in the US, the car now features a 1914cc unit with a multitude of upgrades (as featured in our equipment list) that culminates in a fierce 103hp and 102lb/ ft of torque.

The plan for the car was not to build a drag racer, but to build a great all rounder with enough low end torque to ensure the car was comfortable and quick enough to keep up with modern traffic. With that Flat 4 burble now freed up by a Vintage exhaust system the car is full of character and goes as well as it looks.

The drivetrain now has an uprated clutch, with the gearbox light and easy to operate.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
A very special set of bespoke Porsche-inspired New Flat 4 Chromed Fuchs were installed during restoration and look just right against the black bodywork. The centre caps are fully detailed with the Porsche style original lug nuts also chromed. The wheel sizing is 4. 5 inch front and 5. 5 rear wrapped in 155/ 60R and 195/ 65 Radial Continentals showing plenty of tread depth. There is also a spare full size Fuchs under the bonnet.

The braking system now has 4 pot Wilwood calipers at the front and single pot Wilwood’s at the rear to ensure the car pulls up very well indeed.

HISTORY FILE
This beautiful Oval started life in Southern California and still retains all of it’s original features from 1955; correct front and rear valances, solid body mounts and a rust free floor pan.

Californian VAG specialists Romance with Rust completely rebuilt and transformed the car with special attention to underbody treatment and coatings for the UK climate. The lighting upgrades and stronger braking system were also installed given the seasonal challenges here. Everything works on the car – the horn, semaphores and dash lights as it did in 1955… only with the benefit of being 12volt not 6!

Having covered less than 600 miles since the build 8 years ago, the car has remained in a prominent collection and is now available here in the UK for the first time.

Please visit our website for a full write up and additional photographs.

The car is supplied having had an extensive intake inspection. Warranty, Finance, Part Exchange and Worldwide shipping are all available on request.
