Founded in 1973 in Rimini in Italy, Bimota are famous for creating lightweight race-bred frames around existing engines including Yamaha, Ducati, Kawasaki and Honda
They ventured into the racing world in 1980 with Jon Ekerold winning the 350cc World Championship on a Yamaha-based machine
This was followed up by Davide Tardozzi winning five races in the inaugural World Superbike Championship in 1988 and finishing third overall
This example is the Dennis Trollope run 1988 TT F1 World Championship bike ridden by Steve Williams
Steve finished 4th overall that year behind Carl Fogarty and Joey Dunlop
The YB4 is fitted with a 'race kit' Yamaha YZR750 four-cylinder engine
Results for 1988 included an 11th at Assen, 6th at Vilarael, 5th at Dundrod, and 4th at Pergusa
This is an older restoration that's been on display for the last few years so will require some recommissioning before use
History file included containing numerous photos, race results, sponsor stickers, magazine features, and a signed letter from Dennis Trollope
Great addition to any race bike collection
