Description
The Vincent Rapide needs no introduction, it was the fastest standard motorcycle in production when it was launched in 1946. The Series B differentiated from the Series C with its Brampton girder fork and slightly shorter rear frame, giving both a lighter and shorter wheelbase. It is considered by many to give better handling compared to the Series C Rapide. Incidentally it is also rarer to find nowadays, as the Series B was produced in smaller numbers and owners are reluctant to let them go. This all matching numbers Series B Rapide has correct frame (UFM+RFM) and engine numbers including crankcase halves and timing cover. All numbers are confirmed by the Vincent Owners Club Registrar. The original brown log book is still with the Rapide showing first registration as 1st of May 1949. There are 5 recorded owners from new with the first three owners from 1949-2009. Very original Series B specification throughout except for a few subtle upgrades: Recently the B Rapide had BTH electronic ignition fitted including all new wiring in cloth covered cables. The dynamo is regulated by an electronic unit hidden in the original Miller regulator box. The original Miller front and rear light is still fitted. Furthermore a Dave Hills centre stand is fitted to make parking very easy. There is also a rear luggage rack coming with the Rapide. Mechanically the condition of the B Rapide is very good. The engine was completely rebuild in 2010 and the wheels were professionally rebuild, painted and lined in 2010 with new British chrome rims. Cosmetically it presents very lovely and is a nice older restoration with some patina to it after moderate use. The headlight could benefit from fresh paint as the paint is not 100%. The condition of the headlight is good, but the paint is a little uneven in one spot and there are a few scratches, so it should be mentioned.
