Description
Launched in 1988 as a replacement to the MK2 Cavalier, the MK3 was What Car’s family car of the year in both 1989 and 1990, quickly toppling Ford’s dominance in the market with its Ford Sierra.
This MK3 first registered in August 1995 (the last year of manufacture), is a very well specified example in superb original condition. Having been owned within the same family through 3 generations since 1998, it’s been exceptionally well maintained, with MOT and service history backing up its low mileage of just 56K.
The standard equipment on the LS spec cars featured the following: Laminated windscreen, green tinted glass, safety crumple zones, rigid passenger safety cell, anti-lock brakes (ABS), 4 spoke steering wheel with driver airbag, colour coded front grille, bodyside protection mouldings, colour coded bumpers, halogen headlamps, power assisted steering (PAS), electric front windows, central locking, tilt/ slide sunroof, digital clock and external temperature gauge, cigar lighter, illuminated glove locker, vanity mirror, remote operated door mirrors and split rear folding seats.
This example is also fitted with a Phillips DC 681 radio cassette player, which along with electric aerial, was a factory option upgrade (Code W8X).
Currently showing 10 service stamps in its service booklet, it received a major service in September 2024. This included cambelt and tensioner replacement, oil and brake fluid service, new front discs and pads, new catalyst and 4 new tyres. In addition, it also received an MOT until October 2025, so the car is ready to drive and enjoy.
Despite their popularity back in the day, surviving low mileage MK3’s in this condition, are now very hard to find these days. As such, this example represents an excellent opportunity to own an affordable modern day classic, that’s inexpensive to maintain and run, but still capable of being very much appreciated at any car show, or classic car meet.
