Just Discovered 1954 Porsche 356 Pre A “Bent Window” Cabriolet
This rare and highly coveted 1954 Porsche 356 Pre A Cabriolet with desirable bent windshield and beehive tail-lights has been under the same family's ownership since 1960. An extremely original garage-find offered with its Certificate of Authenticity. Born in green and retaining its original medium dark green leather interior. It has a non-matching numbers but period-correct 1500 engine from 1955. Never restored and out of 65 year single family ownership. This Pre-A Cabriolet has been patiently awaiting a well-deserved restoration.
The legendary 356 was first brought to life in a small workshop in Gmünd, Austria in 1948. Increased demand led to production shifting in 1950 to Stuttgart, where the now steel-bodied cars were assembled by Karosserie Reutter. Initially built with a split windscreen, in 1952 the styling was refined with a more modern one-piece “bent-window”. This hugely enticing restoration project offers a rare opportunity to acquire a desirable Pre-A Cabriolet fresh from long-term ownership.
