Description
This is surely one of the best MG Midgets we have seen, a highly desirable round wheel arch example, in fact, it is best described as 53 year old new car! Manufactured in late 1971, it was first registered on 6th July 1972. The car was purchased by the current owner un 2018, when it was in a very sorry state indeed, having been stored in a garage for 17 years. Over the last four years, it has undergone a complete restoration to original specification, including full strip-down and nut and bold rebuild. As you can see from the photographs, the bodywork was extensively restored and the car is now in beautiful condition, well-finished in the period colour of Harvest Gold. All the mechanics have been either renewed or properly restored, including a fully rebuilt, unleaded engine, rebuilt gearbox, back axle, brakes etc and all the electrics have been renewed. It has newly stove enamelled wire wheels with brand new tyres all round. New fuel tank, pipes, pump and refurbished carburettors. A complete new, navy blue interior has been fitted – in fact – you name it, it’s been done! Very good vinyl hood. As you can see, the under-bonnet area is nicely detailed. The car starts and runs as it should with excellent oil pressure, no overheating, smooth tick-over, good performance and handling, quiet back axle and gearbox. Comes with a good restoration record including invoices and a list of expenditure (over £9, 000 excluding labour) MOT to 16/ 12/ 25 and V5C.
