With a purchase price when new in excess of £70, 000, this low mileage and low owners W140 S500 would make a lovely addition to any classic car collection or could be used as a smooth and refined daily classic.
The W140 was the pinnacle of the Mercedes range when launched in 1991, and cost a rumoured £1bn to develop and bring to market. It is widely regarded as the last ‘true’ Mercedes and as such there is always a keen demand for all W140 models.
This particular example boasts such niceties as double glazed windows, 8-hole alloys, rear parking chrome stems on the rear wings, 4-speed auto box, carpet over mats front and rear, sunroof, CD player, soft close doors, and matching Bramshaw front and rear registration plates.
The car presents well in silver, with grey leather interior. The 5-litre V8 engine sounds smooth and it drives beautifully with no unwanted warning lights showing. The paintwork is good overall, although there are some minor scratches on the leading edge of the passenger side front wing and a small scuff on the front bumper corner. The alloys are tidy but would benefit from refurbishment.
With invoices on file amounting to approximately £13, 000 since new, plus a stamped service book through to 2023, this appears to be a cherished example.
We understand the Mercedes was in storage between 2011 and 2017 at a BMW dealership in Gatwick, hence the lack of any MOT history except when it was tested in 2014.
The vendor hasn’t had the car long, and it is only being sold as he has lost his storage. This, in addition to the fact that he works abroad, has forced his hand and hence it is now available for sale.
Overall, a super example with low owners and low mileage - don’t miss out.
