Description
History :
Since 1977, the BMW R80 has been regarded as the epitome of a touring machine with very long running times. Many test reports praised the excellent mix of robustness, riding comfort, the uniquely smooth idling and the torque of the engine. Even then, the R80 was called a "naked bike" if you opted for the undisguised version. And even then, you could order a 5hp power boost from the factory with higher compression. One of these examples is the R80 converted to a cafe racer as a single seater. In Marco's garage, where father and son work, this motorbike was rebuilt to the taste of the Goodtimer boss. With a fresh MOT (October 2022) this one-off is ready for a new garage.
Frame and paint:
The nut and bolt restoration has left nothing out. The frame has been blasted and thermo-painted, the petrol tank wears ornate decoration and is fully sealed.
Saddle/ grip:
Where you sit, and what you hold - both in buffalo leather with a retro look.
Engine and mechanics:
770km ridden since restoration and with excellent values. Carburettors will be resealed on sale.
Chassis:
New shocks and springs, front disc brakes (perforated) and rear drum freshly overhauled.
Riding experience:
It rides like a bicycle with a low seating position. The handlebars invite cruising and preserve power on long distances.
Recommendation:
A reliable show bike for enthusiasts and those who love exclusivity. When you see it, you fall in love. Those who ride it, enjoy it.
