Description

What is it?
A truly superb, 1976 UK right-hand drive Fiat 124 CC Coupe Sport 1800, one of the last off the production line, presented in exceptional condition and previously featured on the front cover of the Fiat UK Club magazine.

What’s it got?
During the 1970s FIAT offered a range of striking colours, fortunately, the first owner was bold and specified the car in Fiat Brillante Green paintwork which remains resplendent, the brightwork is beautify is preserved as is the original biscuit cloth interior. During its pampered life, a classic Webasto slide back sunroof has been installed, allowing light and air into the cabin. A set of period ABARTH alloy wheels shod with Yokohama tyres and an Abarth sports exhaust enhance the sporty look and sound.

Journeys are made even more pleasurable by the high standard equipment to include
reclining front seats covered in deep-textured quality cloth, sports steering wheel, thick fitted carpets, electric clock, heated rear window and quartz halogen headlights. A tachometer, battery charge indicator, water temperature and oil pressure gauges are as befits such a special car.

How does it drive?
The 1756 cc twincam engine was the most powerful offering with 118 horsepower and a top speed of 115 MPH. Coming standard with a five speed gearbox with a short precise gearchange, servo assisted discs brakes to all four wheels and double wishbone front suspension make for a rewarding driving experience, the car has been modified to run on modern E5/ E10 fuel. This very rare car runs beautifully having just been fully fettled ready for sale by Abarth specialist , Middle Barton Garage, to the tune of £4400.
Recent works including, but not limited to, new battery, full service including the Cambelt and water pump, new uprated starter motor, new shock absorbers all round, replacement front wishbones, rebuilt 5 speed gearbox and new rear differential.

Why this one?
Having only covered a mere, 56000 miles with four keepers this is a genuine survivor example, there is no sign of any welding being undertaken, the body and chassis are solid thanks to being Ziebart treated from new and the vehicle subsequently being pampered all its life. Try finding another like this – it’s as good in the flesh as the pictures.

Car and Driver of September 1974 summarised the appeal of the final generation of 124 Coupe as ‘fun to drive, easy to look at and an efficient device for A-to-B transportation. By this versatility alone, the Fiat becomes a bold nonconformist, a design worthy of esteem’.
