Description
We are delighted to offer a very attractive, well-sorted and useable English-built Citroen Traction Avant. The Slough-Built Citroen Tractions differed from their French counterpart, not only in name and right-hand drive steering but also in specification and finish They featured 12 volt Lucas electrical systems, Smiths instruments, wooden dashboards, Connolly hide interiors, chromed radiator grilles and were available in a choice of colours other than black.
This lovely example benefits from over £22, 000 of restoration expense since 1994 when an overhaul of front suspension including replacing driveshafts was done. The gearbox was rebuilt as was the engine in 1996. It also had a re-trim in leather with new vinyl-trimmed door cards and top-quality carpets. The brakes were also overhauled and in 2015 a major body restoration was carried out which included a bare metal repaint. During 2023 the Citroen had a major electrical upgrade and the fitting of seat belts plus an overhauled cylinder head. Most recently this year a service and set of four Pirelli Cinturato cost almost £1400.
This is a model which rarely comes to market with the more attractive small-boot body shape. It performed faultlessly on test drive and has many useful upgrades to suit use in modern traffic.
