Description
Incredibly, this is a one-owner MGB. It was the subject of a complete restoration utilising a heritage shell in 2004 and it stands the test of time still today. Perhaps more incredibly, it is fitted with a Moss supercharger giving around 40bhp extra oomph and boy, does it drive well!… Come and see for yourself…
The generous history file accompanying this car included the original Bill of Sale from Wilson’s Garage in Dunoon dated 27/ 07/ 1973. After taxes, number plates, VAT etc., the invoice value was exactly £1, 500.
By 2004, after 30 years and close to 120, 000 miles the MG was showing signs of wear so the decision was taken to rebuild the car around a new heritage shell with a reconditioned engine and gearbox and the car was entrusted to Edinburgh-based Witherspoon Motor Services in June 2004 to commence the dismantling.
Accordingly, there are more than a dozen invoices from Witherspoons detailing the whole process including the purchase of the new shell (in Flame Red), new engine, gearbox, wiring loom, hood and interior. Everything else was reused, restored, refurbed or brand new. Some £30, 000++ was invested into this restoration, and that was nearly 20-years ago!
Since that time, our MG has been fitted with a Moss Supercharger offering a power improvement of about 40 bhp and electronic ignition. The subsequent mileage since restoration is approximately 8, 750, equating to around 500 or so annual miles.
With its much lighter Heritage shell, the supercharger and electronic ignition, this is a remarkably accomplished little MG.
