Description
No. 79 of only 410 examples built by Lamborghini in the 1980. s.
The car is well documented and in beautiful cosmetic and mechanical condition.
The body shows no signs of rust. The leather, upholstery and carpets in the interior are original and show little signs of wear due to the low mileage.
The car is an early EU Series 2 model that was delivered new in Italy. It was then exported to the USA in 1987 and brought back to Europe just three years later by a Lamborghini enthusiast family, where it remained for almost three decades.
After we purchased it, we had the rear suspension struts overhauled and fitted with new shock absorbers. The clutch master and slave cylinders were replaced, as were the brake master cylinder, the two brake boosters and the tyres. The cylinder head gaskets were also replaced and the carburettors cleaned and synchronised.
The Jalpa was a development of the Targa version of the Urraco, which had initially been marketed as the Silhouette. The familiar V8 was enlarged to 3. 5 litres for the Jalpa and was fitted with a timing chain instead of the timing belt. The growth in displacement increased the power and, more importantly, the torque. The engine was still equipped with 4 Weber twin carburettors.
Visually, the body was brought closer to its big brother Countach, which is reflected in various styling features such as the shape of the wheel arches or the engine cover.
This also makes the Jalpa a typical representative of the 1980s in terms of looks. In the 1985 film Rocky IV, Sylvester Stallone drives a black Jalpa.
Only around 410 examples were produced between 1982 and 1988. Due to this very small number, even by Lamborghini standards, the Jalpa is an interesting collector's item and at the same time one of the few opportunities to drive a classic Lamborghini with an open top.
The car is visible on appointment at our showroom in Hamburg near the international airport.
