1964 Morgan 4/ 4 competition 1500 Ford FIA race car ‘Pearl’
One of circa 30 genuine 4/ 4 competition models produced by the Morgan factory, we converted a very solid and original car into a full FIA race car some 15 years ago for a well-known Morgan racer Roger Whiteside. The 1500cc Ford Pre-crossflow engine is to full legal FIA specification with all steel bottom end and twin Weber 40 DCOE’s producing 150bhp at the flywheel. It will happily rev to 8500rpm with its wonderful Cosworth cam profile, which perfectly matches the close ratio 2000E all synchro, short throw gearbox.
Designed from the outset for endurance races with a very long-range fuel tank she has completed multiple Spa 6-hour races, a 3 ½ Marathon at the Nürburgring and many European races with Patrick Peters swinging sixties endurance series including, Pau, Dijon, Paul Ricard, Monza, Mugello and Estoril to name but a few, with an enviable reliability record. More than capable of beating 911’s and MGB’s and more in the right hands.
She eligible for HSCC, Equipe and CSCC series here in the UK.
She is light, agile, and great to drive.
Call Richard for more details, he has raced her many times.
