Description
This series 2 has been fitted with a new galvenised chassis and at the same time under went a sympathetic restoration.
New doors, top and bottom, were fitted along with parabolic springs and new satin black wheels shod with G90 Goodyear tyres.
Recent MOT with no advisories.
Inside:
The interior benefits from exmoor trim deluxe seats with bench seats in the rear. Original multispoke steering wheel. Period correct round smiths heater, which produces ample heat and a single wiper motor with chrome arm. The hood sticks are powder coated in a durable satin black finish. Sound deadening floor, seat box, and tunnel matting kit along with a ribbed rear mat. The original central dash is in excellent condition, but the fuel guage can sometimes stick.
Exterior:
Satin green paint with a few blemishes and touch-ups but presents well and suits the character of a series Land Rover! Original style square front valance unlike the later 2a's. Galvenised cappings etc were refreshed during its earlier restoration work. Panels are very straight helped by the new doors. Original style beehive lenses and upgraded halogen headlights. New satin black wheels including the spare. Good year tyres. Spare wheel mounted on the bonnet. Good condition kahki canvas with side and rear windows.
Drive train:
Early series 2 petrol engine denoted by the waterpump with new points, condenser and leads recently fitted. Upgraded to Webber carb. Runs smooth and pulls well. Gears change OK with the original style non sincro gearbox on 1st and 2nd. Hi/ lo level works and 4x4 engages. Steers well and has no excessive play.
Summery:
Smooth running landy, ready to be enjoyed with the hood up during the winter months and topless during the summer! Structurally sound thanks to the Galvenised chassis fitted. This land rover retains its original numberplate and has been well looked after since it's restoration.
