Description
This very well presented, excellent driving MGB Roadster has been restored by a garage owner who has recently retired. We are told the mileage of little over 50, 000 is correct from new, but the car came into the hands of the garage in Honiton, East Devon requiring some restoration work.
The body was found to be very good, particularly the underside with clean, well-presented floors, castle rails and jacking points. New panels to the body included lower front and rear wing sections and a new bonnet. The MG was then fully re-painted, including the engine bay which has an excellent paint finish. The car was professionally de-bumpered, fitted with minilght style wheels and the interior superbly finished with a painted dash.
Mechanically a high level of work was carried out . The engine was checked and found to require new big end bearing shells. Mains and pistons were found to be in very good condition, the head was de-coked and the engine treated to various new gaskets and seals. The gearbox was checked and found to be excellent. A high torque stater, new alternator and radiator were fitted, fuel pipes replaced, and the suspension treated to all new springs and bushes. The wiring loom was replaced and the MGB then put back on the road.
The engine pulls well, it holds excellent oil pressure, the brakes are strong, the steering is sharp, and the overdrive comes in and out smoothly. The lowering kit does a very good job of improving the handling, proven by a short trip out in the Yorkshire Countryside. With the roof down and open roads this will be pleasure to enjoy on summer trips. This is a great option for an entry level MGB Roadster that's structurally excellent and is a strong, reliable and usable example that presents well throughout.
