Just Discovered 1953 Porsche 356 1500 Pre-A “Bent Window” Coupe
This 1953 Porsche 356 Pre-A “Bent Window” Coupe is an original unrestored example out of 40 year ownership where it's been hidden away in storage for decades. White with original blue leather interior. It was originally Fashion Grey making for an excellent original color combination. The engine is a correct but non-matching 1500 unit from 1955. Offered with its Kardex. The car has rust but remains intact and complete. It was built in November of 1953 and sold through Hoffman in New York. This Pre-A coupe has been patiently awaiting a well-deserved and worthy restoration. This car has never been restored so you can be the first to do so.
The legendary 356 was first brought to life in a small workshop in Gmünd, Austria in 1948. Increased demand led to production shifting in 1950 to Stuttgart, where the now steel-bodied cars were assembled by Karosserie Reutter. Initially built with a split windscreen, in 1952 the styling was refined with a more modern one-piece “bent-window”. This hugely enticing restoration project offers a rare opportunity to acquire a desirable Pre-A Coupé fresh from long-term ownership.
