Interesting registration number
This late 1985 ‘C’ registration Mk3 Escort 1. 6i Cabriolet comes to us after being dry stored for the last 3 years or so, and as such is being sold as a project requiring restoration / recommissioning. As a consequence we haven’t tried starting the car.
We don’t have a huge amount of paperwork with the Escort, other than the V5c plus some assorted bills for work carried out and an interesting report (VQ7) showing some of the previous owners. There is a bill on file from 2014 for £2, 380. 56 when a substantial amount of work was undertaken.
The registration number is interesting - indicating that it may have been a Ford press car or similar - but we have no evidence of this.
Whilst the paintwork and bodywork need some attention, in particular the driver’s side front wing and bumper where there is small amount of damage, the hood looks in good condition, as does the interior.
The mileage is showing at a shade over 30, 000 miles - and although we have no evidence to the contrary to indicate this isn’t correct, please do your own checks to ratify the mileage.
Overall, a great opportunity to rescue a rare cabriolet version of Ford’s iconic 80s hatch.
