Description
This 1970 Series 2 4. 2-litre Fixed Head Coupe is a highly original, time-warp example of the Jaguar E-type with just 37, 000 miles from new, finished in its original White over Black colour scheme. The car has benefitted from extensive maintenance and refurbishment work inside and out but crucially has not been restored and is a true survivor car.
VDG 686J is very mechanically sorted E-type with a major service carried out by us in 2024/ 2025. In 2013 the gearbox was rebuilt/ resealed and whilst the gearbox and engine were out of the car a rear crank seal upgrade was fitted and a full engine inspection/ service was caried out with a new stainless exhaust fitted at the same time.
Externally the car is in wonderful condition thanks to its low mileage, with fantastic body fit and very good condition paint. We understand that all the body panels are original, the car has never had any major metalwork or panel work and thus fitment is exceptional, entirely as it should be. The car has been repainted by a previous owner some 10, 000 miles ago and remains very good. The engine bay paint is entirely original.
Inside, new foams have been fitted to the original seats ensuring they remain comfortable whilst preserving the original character of the 1970s Jaguar leather. As you’d expect from such a low mileage car general interior condition is very good, especially as the car has seemingly been garage for most if not all its life.
This series 2 E-type would now make a striking addition to any garage for use as an elegant and characterful weekend driver, ideal for the owner who appreciates the irreplaceable originality this car has to offer.
The car is supplied with a very large box including multiple history files, the original Jaguar service network book, owner’s manual, original service voucher booklets with evidence of period servicing, pictures of the car at shows, original letters from Jaguar on the cars low mileage, original warranty/ service policy.
