Description
First registered June 1988 (F Reg) this excellent XJS V12 Convertible was acquired by its most recent and forth keeper in August 2005, with around 72, 000 miles recorded. Finished in Arctic Blue with Magnolia Hide and Dark Blue hood a scheme which, in our opinion, suits the car well. In super condition this example has clearly been well cared for.
In the 1970’s when the XJ-S was launched V12 powered production automobiles were unusual; In the main only luxury Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari produced such models. The specifications of the XJ-S compared well with both Italian cars; it was able to accelerate to 60 mph in 7. 6 seconds (automatic models) and had a top speed of 143 mph. From July 1981, the XJS received the new High Efficiency (HE) engine for much better fuel economy. A further positive side effect of the more efficient "Fire Ball" combustion chamber designed by Swiss engineer Michael May was that power output was increased to 295 bhp.
The original Jaguar Service Record is present showing the car as supplied by Henly’s of Hendon and serviced by them and subsequently Hadley Green Jaguar eleven times between 1988 and 1995 by which time 60, 600 miles had been recorded. Under 10, 000 miles were then added to the car between October 1995 and June 2006 when the service record picks up again with further services by Vicary’s of Battle and Clarkes XJS workshop. In the most recent keeper’s custody, a very full file of invoices has been kept showing regular expenditure to keep the car in good order. Recent highlights include, along with a service in November 2021 at 88, 600 miles; brake pads and header tank and more recently in 2023 shock bushes and wheel bearings, plus cooling system overhaul.
A quick and powerful car capable of being pushed along; XJS ownership takes the driver back to a less frenetic way of motoring. The typical Jaguar cockpit embellished by Burr Walnut and in this case acres of magnolia leather is a lovely place to escape to.
An Advisory free MoT is in place until November 2024, but to be supplied with the benefit of a fresh MoT and Oil Service following its Pre-delivery Inspection. Three months warranty included and eligible for our exclusive 12 months Classic Car warranty from Autoprotect which can be put in place at modest additional cost. Original book pack and spare keys are present.
We regard this as a very good example of one of Jaguar’s best cars and sure to give the next proud keeper a lot of pleasure.
