Description
1980 Ford Escort RS2000 Base Model in rare Java Green. This is a genuine car which is fairly original and drives really well. Id class it as a very tidy useable example but not a concours car by any means. We have the V5 here showing 7 previous keepers. Its showing 102, 000 miles and drives superb and as good as any Ive driven. We have some old MOTs going back to 1990 but not a lot of other paperwork. Car has a glass sunroof which may put some people off. This car was auctioned a few years ago by Manor Park Classics and was driven by Fuzz Townshend of CAR SOS fame. Body - RS2000 Base model. Original shell, still has strut top number on it and has all the right brackets in all the right places. Tramp bar brackets are all original and not been spugged on like some. Looks like original floors, sills, boot floor etc. Never been painted in the boot and looks original paint. Paintwork has been redone at some point and is really tidy to be fair. The car presents very well. Underbonnet looks to have had the inner wing tops redone but not the whole engine bay. It has had a couple of minor repairs on the front floors in the past which are visible but solid. These would tidy up fairly easily. It could do with a bit of a clean and a fresh coat of wax / underseal underneath but no point us doing it as it looks like we are trying to hide something. Better to see it as it is and if the new owner wants to do something then its their call. Glass sunroof fitted as mentioned above.
Mechanics - The information in the file shows that it had all new brakes in around 2022, a cam belt and service. It has a 5 speed box fitted. It has a manual choke conversion on it. The car starts, runs and drives as well as any we have driven, and better than a lot of them.
Interior - Still has the base model door cards, which are in good order, but seats have been upgraded to fishnets and treated to a set of Aldridge covers. It has had the clock and pod added at a later date as well. It has no centre console. Very tidy inside.
Wheels- These are polished Laser Wheels rather than RS Alloys with good tyres. I know they are not original but they are in really good order and look well on the car. Easy changed if the new owner wants to.
