Description
Launched on 24 February 1939, production continued into the war until 1943. Approximately 9, 000 - 9, 500 of the wartime Austin models were two-seater military 8AP tourers produced for the armed services and government, and the rest were saloons, tourers and vans. After World War II, the model was made from 1945 until 1948.
This example was first registered on the 1st Jan 1940, the car has just come from long term storage and is now up and running.
The engine is in good order, with great oil pressure. It starts and runs well and is fitted with a new 6V battery, all fluids are in the correct places and there is no frost damage. The charging system works correctly and the lights are currently working.
The drive train is in good order and the car drives as it should, no nasty noises and handles well. The body work is in good order, the underside is not covered in thick underseal hiding any sins.
The paintwork does have a number of blemishes and imperfections, if your looking for an immaculate car then this isn't for you. If you want something with a bit of character, age and patina, this has it. The interior is superb, its very nice, original and in good condition.
As mentioned previously the car has been in storage, although not considered a project you should bear this in mind, the tyres have plenty of tread left and hold air but they are perished and therefore may need replacing.
Unfortunately there isn't much in the way of history, but we do have the V5.
