Description
The Lancia Flaminia Convertible is one of the most elegant and understated grand tourers of its era, a car that exemplifies the finest Italian design and engineering of the 1960s. First introduced in 1957 as Lancia's flagship model, the Flaminia was offered in several body styles, with the Convertible versions built by Carrozzeria Touring standing out for their beauty, rarity, and craftsmanship. By the time production ended in 1969, fewer than 850 examples of the Touring Convertibles had been built, making this a highly desirable collector’s car today.
This particular example is a 1968 Lancia Flaminia 2. 8L 3C Convertible, featuring the most desirable 2. 8-litre V6 engine equipped with triple Weber carburettors (3C). Producing 150bhp, the engine provides effortless performance, ideal for relaxed cruising or spirited open-road driving. Mated to a smooth 4-speed manual gearbox, the car offers a refined yet engaging driving experience. The Flaminia’s suspension, featuring independent front wishbones and rear semi-elliptical leaf springs, was advanced for its time, ensuring a composed and comfortable ride.
Carrozzeria Touring’s "Superleggera" lightweight aluminium bodywork highlights the car’s sophisticated proportions, with flowing lines and a timeless aesthetic that perfectly complements its luxurious interior. The cabin is beautifully appointed, with finely detailed instrumentation and high-quality materials throughout, offering a level of comfort befitting its grand touring credentials.
This particular example has a fascinating history. Bought back in the mid 1980's, the owner (who has since sadly passed) put the car in professional storage from the year he bought it, to where it remained for almost 40 years! The result is a car with exceptionally low mileage, and retains it's highly original status. It has since had a full recondition carried out by Stratton Motor Company.
