Model History
Following on from the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, the Ferrari 430 Scuderia was unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2007, by Michael Schumacher, nonetheless. Like the Challenge Stradale before it, stripping the car for weight was the main focus, as a result the Scuderia was nearly 100kg lighter than the standard Ferrari F430, which was hardly a portly car itself. Power was increased by a mere 20bhp to 503bhp but the reduction in weight meant a significant performance boost in all areas. These performance gains allowed the Ferrari 430 Scuderia to lap the Fiorano Test circuit a whopping 2 seconds quicker than a Ferrari Enzo, which on a 1min 26s lap is a big margin.
Exact production numbers for the 430 Scuderia were never published, estimates range from 1, 500 to 3, 000 but generally a figure of about 2, 000 units is widely referenced. A total of just 164 examples were delivered new to the UK.
2007 turned out to be rather a good year for Ferrari, as they managed to win the F1 double, with Kimi Räikkönen winning the Driver’s Championship and Scuderia Ferrari, the Constructor’s. To commemorate this, their 16th World Championship, in Formula 1, Ferrari announced the Scuderia Spider 16M, bizarrely dropping the 430 element completely, although a Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider 16M might have been a bit of a mouthful.
Unlike the Coupé which wasn’t technically a limited production run car, the 16M was limited to just 499 examples from the off, which when you compare that to the new Ferrari F80, of which they will build 799 at £3 million each, it’s a very exclusive Ferrari indeed. Of that number, just 48 were UK delivered RHD cars.
Car for Sale
The Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M for sale at Wrightson Automotive is one of those 48 UK RHD examples. Delivered new in September 2009 by H. R. Owen London, the car was specified beautifully, the exterior is in Nero Daytona with Grigio wheels, Giallo brake calipers, Scuderia shields and the exterior Carbon Fibre Pack. The inside features Carbon Race Seats in Nero with Giallo contrast stitching and embroidered Cavallinos on the headrests. As well as the Carbon Fibre Interior pack, this car has a Giallo rev counter and the upgraded JBL Audio system.
The first owner was quite the Ferrari customer at one point having a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, this Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M, a Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta and a Ferrari 488 Pista on order. He kept this car until 2020 at which point it was sold to the current owner where it has taken pride of place among a number of cars in the collection including his Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale.
Today the Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M is showing near as makes no difference, 24, 000 miles from new. A very well maintained car, it has been looked after by H. R. Owen London, the legendary Ferrari specialist, Bob Houghton and Cotswold Prestige, run by Neil who worked for Bob Houghton for nearly 20 years. The service history is as follows:
31/ 01/ 2011 - H. R. Owen Ferrari Maserati - 5, 994 miles
07/ 10/ 2013 - Bob Houghton Ferrari - 12, 610 miles

23/ 06/ 2023 - Cotswold Prestige - 22, 784 miles - Auxiliary belt and front lower ball joints
From 2023 the Ferrari was kept up in North Yorkshire and in June was due its annual service. With some help from yours truly, the owner found Lee who runs Hangar 18. Having worked for all the big main dealers like JCT600 and main Porsche dealers, Lee is a fountain of knowledge on all things modern supercar and while not the big name some people expect to see in Ferrari service books, he is a hidden gem and with a loyal following and is one of those “if you know, you know” specialists. Lee serviced the car in June/ July, dates and mileage will be confirmed in due course.
The first owner had the car completely wrapped in PPF by Topaz in London during his ownership and the car comes with it’s hand books and wallet, car cover, seat covers, as well as the toolkit and tyre repair kit.
As rare as a LaFerrari, the Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M for sale here is a wonderful chance to acquire a limited series Ferrari from what is fast becoming the sweet spot of modern supercar, if not automotive history, a time when there was still some raw analogue feel but build quality and digital systems made this era of car more usable than ever. The future direction of our beloved automotive world will only further highlight “The Greatest Hits” of arguably, the peak of the motor car.
