In 1982 Autokraft acquired the rights to the famous AC name and went on to produce the high quality, aluminium-bodied Autokraft AC MkIV, an update of the legendary Cobra. This led to the development of several prototypes of a next-generation AC to take the place of the Cobra, a process which would, ultimately, lead to the introduction of a new Ace at the 1993 Motor Show. Hand built from aluminium at AC's Brooklands factory and aimed squarely at the luxury convertible market.
The new Brooklands Ace was priced accordingly, starting at £50, 000. A thoroughly modern supercar in every way, the Ace featured a stainless-steel chassis and independent suspension all round. It was powered by the latest Ford Mustang 5. 0-litre V8 engine producing around 260bhp and the soundtrack as you drive down the road is utterly addictive. To live up to its luxury remit, the Ace was supremely well equipped, including an electric hood, ABS brakes, air conditioning and heated seats. 46 of this original model were produced before Autokraft's demise in 1996 brought the whole process to a halt.
Milestones are delighted to offer this beautiful and super rare Tourmaline Green Pearl example. This car is number 24 of the original run of 46 cars and is the rarer 4-speed automatic specification. The hood & paint present extremely well and beautifully complement the magnolia leather seats and green Alcantara/ wood dashboard which combine to lend the interior a sumptuous ambience. The car comes with a comprehensive history file which includes correspondence between the first owner and AC, as well as invoices for servicing and work carried out, old MOT's etc. The original owners handbook is present and includes the car's early service history with AC, totalling 7 services between 1995 and 2000. Also noted is a front suspension upgrade undertaken by AC at 8, 715 miles. A pleasing detail is that all services bar one were carried out by the same AC employee, N. Fisher.
More recently the car has formed part of a private collection in West Sussex and has been serviced by the owner, a retired engineer, who takes a no expense spared approach to maintenance - in April this year he fitted a new stainless exhaust system at a cost of £1, 500. The car also retains her original 'ACE' personalised registration number.
The spiritual successor to the Cobra, this stunning Ace is the perfect choice for the sports car fan who values individuality and pedigree with a good measure of modern comfort. You will not be disappointed.
