Description

Now concentrate we have a lot to tell you about this car

Starting life as a UK market 1960 build and registered 1600 mark 1 roadster.
We were able to take this car in from its owner of 12 years who was finding it challenging to get in and out and therefore used rarely.
The V5 shows only 2 owners from new however the original registration book shows several owners, at some point the DVLA have recognised the original build from the MG car club and only registered UK owners from that time.
Today the car still retains its original registration number of 800JKO as shown on the original registration book

The owner always wanted a MG A that delivered an enjoyable and reliable drive. Some years back the 1600 engine was replaced with an 1800cc, Kent fast road camshaft, high compression cylinder head, tubular exhaust manifold, electronic ignition, upgraded capacity radiator and fan, oil cooler.
Carbs are standard twin 1. 5ins with SU pancake filters which from our knowledge is what it would have been supplied with.

An MGB 4 synchro competition overhauled gearbox was fitted with overdrive on 3rd and 4th. A new 3rd motion shaft was added. Servo assisted brakes with cross drilled discs on the front, standard on the rear.
Rear axle is standard Banjo type, but the ration has been changed from the standard 4. 3 to 1 to 3. 9 to 1 whish is the standard MGB ration and allows for more relaxed cruising at lower engine speeds.

Electrics have been converted to negative earth and alternator fitted in place of the dynamo. Complete new wiring loom fitted, new single 12v battery plus main battery to engine bay cable with isolating switch fitted behind driver’s seat.
Electronic fuel pump fitted in spare battery compartment behind driver’s seat. New coil, spark plugs and leads were fitted at this time.

We are told that the car was restored in the early 2000’s by a guy who was deeply involved in the MG club and there is British motoring heritage certificate in the paperwork.
The car looks an eyeful with an impressive interior and drives particularly well for an MG A.
The hood appears to be a recent replacement. The wings on the car are fibre glass which whilst having the benefit that they do not rust, and they weigh less it has resulted in some blistering to the paintwork.
It was our intention to have the car re painted to match the excellent condition in all other areas, however other jobs have pushed themselves ahead and we have decided to offer the car at a different price level that reflects this.
We would consider painting for any potential purchaser at a discounted rate of £3000 which would then give you one of the best MG A’s on the market.
Al this car requires is this paintwork to make it a 10/ 10 vehicle
