Imported from Italy by us in 2018, the Autobianchi A112 Abarth is a very rare car in the UK, never officially imported new but sought after by Abarth enthusiasts.
This particular example is an unrestored and yet incredibly sound and unmolested example and although we have no way of warranting the mileage, it has only 29, 500 kms recorded and the condition of the car suggests this could be original.
Since importation, we have carried out some general repairs and recommissioning in order to MOT and register the car and in addition, we have fitted a handling and lowering kit from the Italian specialists in the A112, Passione Abarth. This gives the car a much better stance and looks more like the pocket rocket it is.
The later series cars like this one benefited from a 5-speed gearbox to allow higher cruising speeds but retained the 70hp version of the four cylinder Abarth engine. This engine, the must-fit for any Abarth 1000TC replica, has an astonishing appetite for revs and even the most circumspect driver will find themselves playing tunes with this engine and gearbox just for the fun of it.
Recently we have carried out a few more repair jobs and re-MOT’d the car. It is driving well but has not been used in our ownership. The new MOT also allowed us to transfer it to Historic Vehicle status, making future tax free of charge and MOTs unnecessary. It is also ULEZ compliant and would make a fantastic classic London car!
While the later plastic bumper versions like this may have lost a little of the cuteness of the earlier versions, they do not have the same value either and we are able to offer this very original, rare car at £12, 000.
