The Yamaha XS1100, introduced in 1978, is a classic motorcycle that marked a significant step forward in the evolution of Japanese superbikes. Powered by a 1, 101cc air-cooled inline-four engine, it was one of the first to offer such a large displacement, delivering impressive performance for its time. The XS1100 featured a robust frame, a reliable engine with a four-valve head per cylinder, and an advanced suspension system, including a rear monoshock setup that was cutting-edge for the era. With its combination of power, handling, and comfort, the XS1100 quickly gained a reputation as a capable long-distance tourer and a thrilling sportbike. Its design, though somewhat dated by modern standards, remains a testament to Yamaha's innovation and engineering prowess. Today, the XS1100 is cherished by enthusiasts for its historical significance and enduring appeal in the world of classic motorcycles.
Purchased by the current vendor in 2021, this Yamaha XS1100 displays 62, 739 miles on the speedometer and we're advised by the vendor that it was run recently however, they noted it does clunk when engaging first gear after stopping and is therefore sold strictly as viewed. Documentation offered with the machine includes a V5C.
All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams Motorcycles website for all pertinent auction information.
