The Smart Roadster and Roadster Coupé were introduced in 2003, based on a stretched Fortwo platform. The two variants are meant to be reminiscent of British roadsters such as the Triumph Spitfire or the MG B.
The Car:
First registered in 2003, this early left-hand drive Roadster was purchased new from Smart Mercedes UK, Birmingham and now shows less than 5, 000 miles from new with two previous keepers. Used for the first year as a weekend toy, the vehicle was then put into a private Collection where it has remained until now and is now offered fresh from recommissioning which included a B+ service, battery, air conditioning hose and regas, key, front disc and pads, oil and air filter and plugs.
Powered by a 698cc turbocharged three-cylinder producing the less seen 80bhp rather than 61bhp, with rear-wheel drive via a 6-speed automated manual transmission with paddle shift
Finished in Jack Black and highly specified with heated black leather interior, electric windows, air-conditioning and more, it sits on upgraded 16" Spikeline alloys. The paint presents well, though there are light scratches on the bonnet and boot lid - a video of these is available.
