FOR SALE
An amazing Honda Express 2 NC50 with a little hidden surprise!
EQUIPMENT
Backbone design frame, telescopic front fork suspension, rear swinging arm suspension, offside rear-view mirror, fully automatic 2-speed transmission, large headlight with high beam indicator, fitted indicators, wide moulded plastic fenders front and rear, large ribbed folding foot pegs, ribbed hand grips, large comfortably padded seat, lighted speedometer, horn, oil level indicator, centre stand, fitted front basket, tax disc holder.
EXTERIOR
‘You meet the nicest people on a Honda Express’. This was the marketing slogan for many small economy Honda scooters and mopeds of the era which became very popular in the years following the 1973 oil crisis where thrifty means of motoring was increasingly sought. This 1982 UK example is finished in Blue one of two colours available the other being Red. The finish to this unrestored example is remarkable and the bike is very presentable with factory decals intact. Light age-related markings and patination throughout are entirely forgiven considering many have vanished! The plastic mudguards are undamaged and straight. Stanley light clusters remain fitted as does the supplying dealer number plate. The perfect two-tone seat has been professionally retrimmed. The lights, Nippon Seiki gauge, high beam indicator and push button horn all work perfectly. Guaranteed to raise a smile!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The little surprise is here! The 2-stroke engine has been upgraded to a 66cc bigger barrel and piston kit with new gaskets and bearings, this gives that little extra power and makes the bike much more usable in today’s modern traffic. Visually identical, the correct later kick-start procedure and automatic clutch with twin-speed transmission. All mechanicals are in perfect working order as is the Autolube system with ball-level indicator. The carburettor, oil pump and reed valves have been stripped, ultra-sonic cleaned where required, checked serviced and set up with new gaskets. A single kick and this delightful Honda pops into life ready for simplistic and frugal motoring enjoyment!
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Both wheel hubs have been restored, laced with new spokes, wheels trued and fitted with new matching Vee Rubber 2. 25-14 24B tyres which have masses of tread. The cable operated drum brakes work affectively but require a firm squeeze.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 7th September 1982, this fantastic UK example was registered new by Honda Motorcycles Main Dealer, John’s of Romford. The bike was purchased in 2024 by the previous owner, Mr Moore, whose hobby of tinkering with classic motorcycles has taken over his garden with various outbuildings designed for everything from storage, refurbishment, maintenance and even a small parts department! Partial restoration has involved meticulous refurbishment of original parts to achieve the fantastic presentation without loss of the standard look. The bike runs and performs as good as it looks and despite qualifying for tax and MOT exception, the next owner will enjoy the peace of mind gained from the MOT carried out in November 2024 where it passed with flying colours. An original handbook, service book, (stamped by the supplying dealer), UK workshop manual and sales brochure are included. Great fun and a sense of humour required!
MOT November 2025, tax exempt, HPI Clear.
