EXTERIOR
This incredible flagship MGF VVC is finished in sparkling Platinum Silver, (Code MNX). The paintwork boasts a deep gloss shine throughout and has clearly benefited from garaged storage and just 12, 581 miles from new! All factory panels are original and the underside, wheel arch apertures and shuts are preserved and very clean. The original woven acrylic fabric hood is deep black and the plastic screen pleasingly clear with only very light scratches. All trim, light clusters and badges are in marvellous order and the correct orange indicator lenses denote an earlier car. There is a small ding to the rear panel barely noticeable. Many dealer fitted accessories separate this car from normal offerings with everything from an expensive hard top and front fog lights to the useful windstop. This example will satisfy the MG fanatic seeking a low mileage and low owner cherished example with large doses of fun!
INTERIOR
Featuring the expensive and desirable Leather Option Pack in full Red leather upholstery, (Code CEN), which is all in beautiful condition commensurate with the very low mileage and pampered ownership. Also optioned with the Wood Interior Trim Pack, the combination with the Platinum Silver exterior is exquisite. The cut pile carpets have been protected since new by genuine MG rubber mats and the veneer to the centre vent has delaminated. The ivory-coloured dials of the instrument binnacle with the MG logos recall traditional MG design cues and were only fitted to the early cars. The knowledgeable MG enthusiast will note the red line at 7250 rpm on the tachometer as fitted to the range topping 1. 8i VVC model. All functions operate perfectly including the original MG stereo cassette with 6 CD autochanger and rare exterior temperature warning indictor. Both front and rear luggage areas are surprisingly spacious and spotless with the front housing and all factory plates and labels. Wonderful.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The desirable four-cylinder 1796cc VVC, (Variable Valve Control), engine produces 143bhp enabling a top speed of 130mph and 0-60 in just 7. 0 seconds. The light weight body, mid-mounted engine and rear wheel drive configuration possesses all the correct sports car credentials to ensure optimum driver delight. A recent major service and cambelt change in December 2024 ensures immediate turnkey fun. The short throw sports ratio five speed gearbox is light and precise.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The optional and rare 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with the pristine MG logos are virtually unmarked having never been refurbished. Branded Kumho 215/ 40 ZR16 front and rear tyres have ample tread and the original Goodyear spare wheel which appears unused with coloured tyre banding still visible! Ventilated front discs and solid rear discs with electronic anti-lock braking fitted as standard on the 1. 8i VVC offers positive straight-line stopping power.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 16th March 1998 by MG Main Dealer, Sargeant & Collins Ltd of Bromley, this desirable top of the range VVC model has covered just 12, 581 miles from new with only two owners, the last since April 1999! Mr Jones, an avid MG enthusiast, purchased the car with 2, 892 miles and part exchanged his Flamenco Red MGB GT with just 16, 000 miles and a further £17, 080. His handwritten notes included in the comprehensive history file show his workings that this example had in excess of £3, 828 of options and accessories without the hard top! Used sparingly by him and always garaged for the next 25 years, a neat A4 file of chronically ordered paperwork including original purchase documentation, service invoices, MOT certificates and much more is present. All handbooks, stamped service book and sales brochures are present along with two keys and remotes with leather MG dealer supplied key fobs. This stunning vehicle has recently benefited from a major service and cambelt change in December 2024 and represents a prime example with unrivalled credentials for any MG enthusiast.
