The restoration process included sand-blasting, etch-priming and the careful replacement of any rust, ensuring a flawless finish. The VIN remains clearly visible on the floor and the sunroof tray is completely rust-free. The car has been oven-painted inside and out, with the underside coated in Gravitex for added durability. The engine, with less than 50 miles since its rebuild, features a new Kent camshaft kit, refurbished crank, Wossner oversize pistons, and fully balanced components, with receipts for the work included.
The turbocharger and manifold have been completely rebuilt by Turbo Developments and the gearbox has been stripped, checked and reassembled with new seals, bearings and a new fifth gear. The suspension has been fully detailed with new bolts and rubbers, and the car benefits from new coil springs, refurbished alloys, and matching Yokohama tyres. The RS Turbo also features an upgraded S2 braking system, thicker anti-roll bars and a refurbished RS leather steering wheel.
This superbly restored example also boasts a number of period-correct features, such as original bronze-tinted glass, a new windscreen and a Ford-branded radio cassette player that has been converted to Bluetooth for modern functionality without compromising the car’s classic appearance. The car has a valid MOT until August 2025 with no advisories.
