Description
The Ferrari Dino 206 and 246 are certainly among the most beautiful and most elegant Pininfarina designed mid-engine sportsters to ever leave Maranello. Since the cars were equipped with a V6 engine and not the Ferrari typical V12 setup, they did not receive a Ferrari badge but were sold under the name Dino, in reference to Enzo Ferrari‘s son Alfredo Ferrari. Therefore, a Dino in its original condition will not show any Ferrari logo or prancing horse. Our example 1 of 2’487 left hand drive Dinos built was delivered new in Switzerland and first registered on the 21st of April 1971. Delivered in Avorio (ivory) with a beige leather interior, the early history of the Dino is unknown. It was taken over in June 1988 by the vendor and added to his collection in restored condition and painted in the actual red. He clearly cherished his pretty Coupé and made sure it was regularly maintained and repaired as necessary. Thus, among other things, in 2000, around 5’000 kilometres ago, the cylinder heads were overhauled and the clutch replaced. In 2002 the rear brakes received an overhaul, and the coachwork was partially restored. And, in 2010, the Dino received a new steering rack and the interior was refreshed. Receipts exceeding 90’000 Swiss francs since 1999 are available. The 246 presents itself today in gorgeous condition. The 2. 4 litre V6 delivers 195 horsepower and is running perfectly. The 5-speed gearbox is shifting well with the exception of the first gear which is a bit difficult to engage and would require some adjustments or a replacement of the corresponding shift fork. The last Veteran MOT was completed in June 2020 allowing the Dino to be registered in most German speaking cantons immediately.
