We are delighted to offer for sale this beautiful 300SL, finished in a timeless colour combination of Diamond Blue Metallic over Cream Beige Leather interior. Registered by Drayton Mercedes Benz in Stoke-on-Trent on 1st September 1989, thus sporting a ‘G’ prefix registration number, this R107 was actually delivered after the end of the whopping eighteen-year production run, which ceased on 4th August of the same year, making it one of the last to be registered in the UK.
CONDITION
Despite being over 35 years old, this SL has covered just 49, 500 miles and so it should come as no surprise to learn that the overall condition borders on perfection. The bodywork, colour-matched hard top and chrome are unmarked, and the leather upholstery looks almost brand new. Underneath the car it’s much of the same, sills, floors and bulkhead all in excellent order. Open up the bonnet and you’re greeted by a gleaming engine bay, one of the cleanest we’ve seen in a long time.
HISTORY
In the history file, you’ll find the spare keys, a set of original manuals in the correct clear plastic sleeve, and the original service booklet. Inside, stamps from the very first service up to the present day. The relatively small increase in mileage between each service is consistent throughout the history, with one exception, when the car gained 7, 500 miles in 6 months during 1997 – serviced in June and December of that year. We’d like to think that the owner at the time, Mr. D Cross had the car serviced ahead of, and following a summer tour – precisely what the car was always built to do.
Their history file also contains a folder with plenty of MOT certifications and invoices dating back to the early 90’s, further evidence that each and every owner has gone to great lengths to maintain this SL to the highest possible standards. Their success is plain to see today.
