Description
This very first M3 is based on the E30 3-series from 1986. The first generation had a 2. 3l BMW S14 engine with 200 hp. The main reason for the production of the M3 was to compete with the Mercedes-Benz W201. A remarkable feature of the M3 E30 is its racing background, not only with BMW itself, but also with race and rally teams such as the English Prodive and the German AC Schnitzer Motorsport. Later there were "Evolution" models that had a power of 215 hp. In the last year of production (1990-1991) "Sport Evolution" models were released that delivered 238 hp with a 2. 5l engine. Also 786 M3 convertibles were handmade and this on request of customers. With this it was the fastest four-seater convertible. However, the car was not designed for racing.
Unlike the then existing M5 and the subsequent M3s, the E30 M3 had a four-cylinder in-line. The prototype experimented with a 3. 5-liter 24-valve 6-in-line engine from the M5 E28. However, this caused a disadvantaged road holding due to its mass. BMW found that it was easier to construct a powerful four-cylinder than a lighter six-cylinder. Eventually, they came up with an E28 M5 engine, which was reduced to a four-cylinder and therefore had a capacity of 2302 cc. In the classic model with 200 hp and 240 Nm of torque, this provided a top speed of 235 km/ h and 6. 9 seconds to reach 0 to 100 km/ h.
The M3 E30 was very different from the regular 3-series. Apart from the bonnet, the entire body was different. It had a more aerodynamic design and wider tires and wheels.
This M3 Cabriolet presented here is an original German car and was delivered on 23-8-1990 in Hamburg. All booklets are included and there is also a new convertible top. Furthermore, there are many invoices from the Vertragshandler AHG BMW Service where the car was maintained for a long time. In other words, this is a well-maintained BMW. The interior is finished in black leather and still looks perfect. For the convertible enthusiast who is looking for four seats, this is a very fast and rare car.
