Here we have a great opportunity to get yourself a very rare split screen Volkswagen T2 Kombi, finished in a lovely colour combination of coral and cream with a cream vinyl interior. It looks great and really emphasizes the style and desirability of VW. The style is added to with such things as chrome surrounds on the headlights, cream bumpers and nudge bars, and don’t forget the split screen has a great look anyway with the VW badge taking centre stage on the front.
The vendor tells us that the VW was originally from a US dry state, hence the LHD configuration. After that it went to live in Japan, again in a dry Provence, and has then come to us in the UK. One could say this is a well-travelled van! The van has been the subject of a restoration at some point and for the most part is in great condition. There is the odd mark here and there, but nothing that detracts from its appearance in a serious way - you may even leave it as is and call it patina. The specification is very interesting as well, having the double side doors, two sets of rear seats, opening rear door, the most amazing Panasonic radio from the period and a very interesting retro air con system. Neither of these have been tested but they look really cool.
There are not many of these around, and you know you don’t just buy a VW, you buy a new social life and new friends. The VW scene is massive and this van will fit right in and will be greatly appreciated with all associated with it. If you are thinking about buying a VW ‘Splitty’, this could well be the one. It’s in nice condition, with a good specification and even has an MOT until March 2025. There has never been a better time to buy one of these and this one starts with a very low reserve, and the nice thing about an auction is no one knows where it may end, but you’ve got to be in it to win it. Good luck!
