Description
History was made at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961. Rarely before had a new car caused such a sensation. The sleek sports car from the pen of Malcolm Sayer was to unleash an avalanche of enthusiasm and amazement that continues to this day. An entire subculture emerged. In so many ways, the E-Type was simply out of this world. Be it the outstanding and sophisticated chassis, the sheer speed or the simply breathtaking design. Fundamentally, the E-Type was based on the extremely successful D-Type racing car. With such competitive genes, the E-Type had little competition among the GTs.
This second series roadster was delivered by British Leyland in New York on 14 May 1970. Then as now, the car wears its original ‘Willow Green’ colour with ‘Cinnamon’ leather interior. The engine and gearbox numbers also match the chassis. The Jaguar found its way into a Swiss collection in 2021, where it was used for events and trips, including to England. The car is in an extremely authentic original condition with a fantastic patina. A true unrestored contemporary witness. In contrast to its appearance, some of the mechanical parts have been renewed. The engine and gearbox were overhauled in our specialist workshop in 2022. Since then, the powerful 4. 2-litre six-cylinder engine has covered 5, 000 kilometres without any problems. In 2023, the brake system was also renewed by us and last summer we installed an improved alternator. A factory-fitted black hardtop and the original power steering round off the package. A tried and tested driving machine with rough edges. This beautiful E-Type is being sold with a veteran's licence. Various receipts and the documentation for the engine and gearbox revision are of course available.
