Morris Mini Cooper S MK1.
Manufactured between 1966/ 7 by BMC and exported to the Australian market as CKD. (Completely Knocked Down). This was toreduce import tax into Australia, the car was assembled in Australia by BMC at the Zetland plant between March and June 1967.
The car has been inspected by the Mini Cooper register confirming it has the original body #1841, chassis #YKG2S2 2341, engine (1275 cc) #9FSAY 43923. The car has its original colours of British racinggreen code 00862, and Toga white roof code 08452.
The MK1 Cooper S model for the Australian market differed slightly from the home market cars which have the following differences: Wind upfront windows, MK1 style reclining seats, engine
colour the same as Austin Healey (light green), chassis plate mounted on the bulkhead, Hydrolastic pipes recessed for protection. Al had a rev counter and twin fuel tanks as standard and silverwheels.
After many years in Australia, this car was sold to Japan where it remained in its original specification, rustfree but in need of restoration.
The current owner imported it to theUK in 2016 and undertook a full nut and bolt restoration which was completed in 2022 to concours standard. The car has completed only runningin miles since. Now UK registered as BNH 248E.
The body is original with no new panels other than a boot floor. It has been painted to the highest standards. The engine and gearbox have been professionally rebuilt along with every component on the car. The interior has been re trimmed by Newton Commercial.
This Cooper Sis not to be confused with older or part restorations, it will be one of thebest or the best on the market.
