Description
This rather lovely R60/ 5 has literally just arrived, and I will be updating the pics / detail presently.
The bike is a low ownership, low mileage example, manufactured in late 1972, (SWB) and registered new in the UK in October of 1973.
There is a huge and interesting history file with the bike, detailing an engine refresh and light restoration around thirty years ago,
and the bike is now in genuinely nice, patinated condition. Mileage is showing just short of 8k miles, but a complete new speedo rev counter unit was fitted, so combined mileage is now approx. 53k miles. This is supported by old MOTs. Since the refresh, more recent history shows
maintenance investment in carb rebuilds, brake overhauls, ignition, tyres, etc. the engine ticks over like a watch.
First impressions are of a very honest, well maintained example of the marque, with nice touches like the seamless stainless silencers, Surefoot side stand, stainless spokes, etc. it retains its original hand pump and toolkit.
As i say, just arrived, and I’ll be servicing and preparing the bike for sale in the next couple of weeks.
I have a comprehensive selection of Airheads at the moment, including R50/ 5, R60/ 5, R75/ 5, R75/ 6, R90/ 6, R90S, R100S, R100RS, R100CS, and R100RT. There’s even a very, very rare Krauser MKM 1000 if you fancy something a bit special. As always, YOUR Airhead
always considered in part exchange. Please just shout if you’d like specific pics, details, or videos of any of my bikes.
Always happy to chat about all and anything Airhead, and flexible viewing times available, here at JTR Classic BMW, Washington, North East England, but by appointment please.
All the best
John.
