Description
We are delighted to have back after filming this stunning Mustang in Guy Ritchies' Operation Fortune. We sold two 1966 Mustangs for the film, one a stunt car and this one, which in Film terminology is the Hero Car. Josh Hartnett drove it in an extended chase scene with Aubrey Plaza as the passenger. The Mustang was featured in many other shots within the film.
This 66 started life leaving the Ford Factory in San Jose, California, on 27th December 1966. Maybe a late Christmas present? It was sold at a local dealership in Los Angeles. It is an original C Code 289 V8 engine car, and it has undergone a restoration since then. We have photographic evidence of the bare metal respray it had from Antique bronze to springtime yellow in the States several years ago. Whilst on a rotisserie, any metal work needed was repaired at that stage. This is why it still is in fabulous condition.
The Mustang has front and rear disc brakes, Electric Power steering, a 5-speed manual gearbox, electronic ignition and 17inch grey and polished alloy wheels. The engine was rebuilt, and the new manual gearbox was installed as the bodywork was restored.
The interior has been upgraded throughout, from the headlining to the carpets. The dashboard fascias have a turned alloy look with inset white KUS dials. It also has the Deluxe pack interior with the pony emblem seats front and back. Rear seat belts have been added. Sitting behind the wood effect period wheel is a great place to be, the white pool ball style gear knob and Hurst shifter give a great feel to the overall drive of this Mustang. A stereo with speakers back and front is present, although the sound of the engine is where the actual music is!
The Mustang is currently wrapped in this outstanding metallic red, as both the stunt car and this Hero car had to match for the film.
Check out the Operation Fortune trailer on YouTube. You will see the car in action there and in the film. It's a great film, but I expect you already know that!
Are you going to be the next star to own this Mustang? Imagine the stories this car can tell at your local car meet or classic car show.
