Here we have an interesting example to offer you - a Land Rover Defender 110 with the South African Hi-Line specification we are led to believe by the vendor. The Landie arrived in the UK in 2016 when it came into our vendor’s procession. He has spent some money on it recently, believed to be in the region of £3, 000 and it is a very original example. These trucks were licensed by Land Rover to be built by Leyland S. A. and Associated Automotive Distributors. The builds were upgraded by being built on galvanized frames, galvanized bulkheads and factory air conditioning, which this example has. It is a little different from a UK built Land Rover, so maybe it might be a good idea to come and have a look so you know what it is all about. If you know what it is, you’ll be fine with it, but come anyway as this is a special vehicle to the right people and quite rare as well.
The Defender comes with a lot of toys including a ladder, roof rack and awning (all galvanised), steps all round, tow bar front and rear, winch, spotlights, bull bar and various pieces of chequer plate around the vehicle. There are also some unidentifiable parts on it that we are not sure what they are for, but we are sure someone will know. The interior has been made dry and the inside floor is covered in underseal for protection. It could very easily have the carpets fitted to cover this if you wish but it does give it protection and looks very purposeful. The other additions to the interior are the aforementioned air con, 9 seats, central cubby box, alpine windows, sunroof, and on the outside it is wearing a matching set of Yokohama tyres.
This is an unusual and interesting Defender that if you are in the know is a very exciting opportunity. There are not many of these about in the UK and it makes for a great Land Rover to own. Come and have a look, it’s not perfect, but it’s a Land Rover and is a great vehicle with lots of fun left in it to enjoy.
