In 1998 Yamaha unveiled the YZF-R1, the bike was as big a leap forwards in superbike performance as the original Honda Fireblade was in 1992
The 998cc 20-valve engine produced 150hp at 10, 000rpm and, along with sublime handling and strong braking performance, the YZF-R1 was the pinnacle of superbike performance and has remained a legend ever since
This, very clean, first-generation model has covered 40, 413 miles and appears mostly original apart from a tinted double-bubble screen and aftermarket brake discs
Confirmed in running condition and has been regularly serviced
Supplied with a current V5, the original owners handbook, the service book with all but one service stamped, previous MOT certificates and some service receipts
