"Burkard Bovensiepen's Alpina company has for more than 30 years produced the niche models that BMW itself does not want to make. Based in the Bavarian town of Buchloe, an hour or so from BMW's Munich headquarters, Alpina creates cars for connoisseurs. They are expensive and not necessarily more powerful or faster than standard BMWs, but they do offer combinations not available from the factory.'-" - Car & Driver.
Founded by Burkard Bovensiepen, the German firm of Alpina began producing tuned versions of BMW models in the 1960s before the Bavarian company's own Motorsport Department launched its now famous 'M' range. A close collaborator with BMW from its earliest days, Alpina enjoys motor manufacturer status in Germany and can take much of the credit for establishing BMW's high performance image thanks to a succession of sensational road cars and countless race-track victories.
Built between 2005 and 2010, the Alpina B6 was based on the BMW's 6-series (E63) platform - specifically the 650i - and used an extensively modified version of its 4. 4-litre V8 engine. The latter was equipped with an ASA supercharger built to Alpina's specifications, and delivered its 500PS (493bhp) maximum power to the ground via a ZF six-speed automatic transmission. The suspension system and wheels were Alpina's own, and the B6 also came with uprated brakes. Alpina also offered a fully customisable interior. On the road the Alpina B6 was no slouch, racing to 60mph (97km/ h) in 4. 5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 193mph (311km/ h). A front chin spoiler with 'ALPINA' lettering distinguished the B6 from the regular BMW 6-series.
Although built to Gulf States specification, this left-hand drive Alpina B6 was first registered on 17th September 2007 in the UK and is the 76th of a limited series. The PDI document was stamped by Alpina factory in Buchloe in 2007. The car is finished in desirable Alpina Green II Metallic with BMW Individual (Z1XX/ S) tan interior and a black soft-top roof. The car comes with its original Alpina/ BMW books including the service booklet, which has been stamped twice by Sytner Sunningdale: in 2010 at 540 miles and again in 2013 at 953 miles (the current odometer reading is only 1, 258 miles). Recommissioning will be required before further road use. interested parties should note the car is supplied with one key. The private UK registration is currently being retained by the seller and the car will be offered with a UK age related registration document, which will follow post sale.
