• Extensive history file

Offered here is the 'rarest of the rare': a factory, right-hand drive, Jaguar XK150 'S' Roadster. Since 2003 the car has belonged to a Yorkshire businessman, who has generously donated it for auction in aid of a local charity in Keighley, West Yorkshire, which is aiming to raise £5 million for a community project. Bonhams has waived its selling fees and will contribute one third of the buyer's premium to the said charity upon the sale of this Lot.

Chassis number 'T820044DN' was built in 1959 with the 3, 442cc engine and is one of only 44 right-hand drive 'S' roadsters made with the '3. 4'. In May 1985 Jaguar dealer Mr Alan Ensoll had the Coventry works fit the current genuine, the more powerful 3, 781cc unit, at the same time as a factory rebuild. This car also has the benefit of a rare, factory-fitted, floor-activated overdrive; electronic ignition; and a coolant expansion tank.

'OCF 683' is sold with the original 3. 4-litre short engine, comprising the block, cylinder heads, cylinders, camshafts, pistons and sump. Chrome wire wheels are currently fitted, while the original five painted wire wheels are included. The interior, seats, dashboard, carpets, red cloth tonneau and fully operational hood are all original factory-fitted items.

The current odometer reading is 18, 356 miles. A written declaration made on 20. 9. 1992 by then owner B M Ensoll states that 'the speedometer indicates mileage covered since restoration' in 1985.
The car passed its MoT in October 2024 and is considered by its recent owner to be fully functional, roadworthy and in very good condition throughout.

The old-style logbook shows that the XK's owner in 1969 was Kardly Knapp, who sold it to Alan Ensoll (Sales) Ltd in 1971. He later passed title to his wife, who sold the Jaguar to Robin Horsell in 1993. He, in turn, transferred ownership in 2003 to Mr W Howard Carter, who gifted it to the aforementioned charity in September 2024. There are no records available of ownership prior to 1969.

All maintenance records including copy invoices since 2003 (and a few going back to 1993) are available, as is the British Leyland service booklet covering the period from the 1985 rebuild to 1990. Previous MoT certificates for all years from 1985 to 2018 are available, excepting years 2004-2005 and 2007-2008. No MoT certificates are available for 2018-2023 although the car was driven during this period. The old-style logbook covering the period 1969 to 1975 is included, together with the original owner's handbook. A full breakdown of all works carried out and parts purchased between March 1994 and September 2021 may be found in the history file (inspection highly recommended).

All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams Motorcycles website for all pertinent auction information.
