This excellent driving, structurally outstanding MGB Roadster has covered 22, 000 miles since a full nut and bolt restoration that was completed in 2005. This RHD Home Market MGB was first registered on the 20th October 1971 and by the early 2000’s the MG was ready for restoration. A Cornwall based MG Specialist then commenced a full rebuild using a Heritage Shell for a Truro based husband and wife who then enjoyed over 20, 000 miles between 2005 and 2021. Since then, the MG has been with its second Cornwall based owner who has covered around 2000 miles, keeping the car maintained by the original MG restorer. We collected the car in Cornwall and have brought it all the way up to Yorkshire.
The specialist rebuild was carried out to a very high standard and several further additions over and above the initial standard specification were also paid for by its long-term owners. The hood was upgraded to mohair, a matching Navy tonneau also fitted along with a spare wheel cover, moulded boot carpet set, walnut dash and centre speaker, Navy gear stick gaiter, headrests, chrome oil cap, alloy rocker cover and Kenlowe fan. The MG was then put into regular use with thousands of miles of reliable touring carried out. Invoices from the restorer are on file to show the upkeep and maintenance carried out on behalf of its owners since completion in 2005.
Since changing hands in 2021 the MGB has had a new set of Blockley tyres, new Petronix coil, new HT leads, some new hoses and general services demonstrating what a high-quality usable example this is. Its superbly run in since restoration and quite simply has not required major work and has proven incredibly reliable. On the road the MG drives superbly with a strong, fit engine holding excellent oil pressure, smooth overdrive gearbox and handling and braking are first class. Riding on chrome wire wheels, the MGB presents superbly with an excellent bodyshell with nicely aged paintwork of a very good standard, a lovely smart interior and well presented engine bay and boot compartment. If looking for a properly maintained, strong, reliable and usable MGB for long distance touring, this is the car to have.
