Vehicle history:
The Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe was the final piece of the puzzle that Shelby American needed to win the FIA World Sports Car Championship. Carroll Shelby was the only American manufacturer to win the crown with this model in 1965. Peter Brock designed the sleek, aerodynamic bodywork that gave the Daytona the edge on high-speed circuits around the world. Only six Daytona coupes were built in the 1960s, yet they have left an unforgettable racing legacy. The CSX9000 series is a modern evolution of the car that dominated the racetrack in 1965. Designed by original designers Peter Brock and Bob Negstad and built by Shelby American, the CSX9000 Continuation Daytona Coupes have a larger passenger compartment than the original race cars, allowing for greater comfort. They also feature a tubular mild steel frame.
This car, chassis number CSX9161, continues the championship spirit with its Guardsman Blue exterior with Wimbledon White stripes, accompanied by color-matched, fully polished 18-inch pin drive wheels. Accents include an original Le Mans-style fuel filler cap, rear spoiler, standard reversing light, Shelby-style door locks, functional ducting and scoops for cooling and brakes. The performance of the CSX9161 is backed by a Roush 427IR small block Ford V8 with Borla 8-stack fuel injection, silver ceramic manifolds, side pipes, engine oil cooler and an aluminum radiator. The engine is mated to a TREMEC T56 6-speed manual transmission and power is transferred to the rear axle via an aluminum limited slip differential. The handling and brakes are equally sharp, with independent suspension with coil overs and springs, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering and a Porsche Brembo brake system.
The CSX9000 series is equipped with an 80-liter stainless steel fuel tank as standard. The interior is ready for Grand Touring adventures, with air conditioning, leather bucket seats with Shelby logos and white stitching, Alcantara headliner and dash, Dynamat sound deadening, full-size Stewart Warner gauges, power steering, power windows and power door locks. A roll bar adds safety to the high-quality interior materials. A Bluetooth sound system further enhances the Grand Touring experience.
